Casterbridge Academy

The Casterbridge Academy offers individuals of all ages the opportunity to train under the Academy Apprentice Scheme whilst working in one of 24 Casterbridge Nurseries. This is delivered through a framework of units where upon successful completion, learners will achieve a Level 2 Certificate or Level 3 Diploma in the Children's and Young Person's Workforce.  Alongside these, learners will also achieve Functional Skills in English and Maths and a First Aid Certificate.    This is all funded by the Skills Funding Agency and is therefore free of charge to the apprentice. The qualification framework looks at a wide range of childcare areas including health and safety, child protection, environments, relationships and child development.

Apprentices are able to train whilst working in a nursery and are paid an apprenticeship salary. Qualifying usually takes around 12 months. The training program consists of apprentices completing work related assignments, projects and a wide range of activities to gain sufficient experience and evidence to demonstrate occupational competence.

Apprentices work four days per week within the nursery with the fifth day being utilised for training sessions, research or study. Support is offered via a Casterbridge Academy Assessor who visits the apprentice at the nursery twice a month and also provides ongoing support by telephone and e-mail.

If you are interested in joining the Casterbridge Academy either apply online or download the QCF application form and return to our Support Office.
